Review on Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP Software

Microsoft Dynamics AX is a comprehensive business solution for large and midsize companies. It was previously named as Axapta which was later changed to Microsoft Dynamics AX after Microsoft acquired Navision A/S. Microsoft Dynamics AX is composed of four major components database, file server, AOS or application object server and UI. It works exceptionally well with other Microsoft tools like share point. Let's look at the major features of this business application in Microsoft Dynamics AX review.

Dynamics AX is a very powerful tier 1 application with great features and customization capabilities. It is very fast and cost effective in comparison to other ERP software in the market falling in the bracket of Microsoft Dynamics AX. It is compatible with SQL server and Oracle databases which makes it scalable and can work for a global company handling multi currency and multi language. It is compact and highly integrated application with built in remote access features with out using citrix or terminal services. Microsoft Dynamics AX CRM module has various features which are relevant and helpful in maintaining the customer and vendor relationship.

Microsoft Dynamics AX comes with all the necessary features and modules that may be required in midsize or large organization. It has features like business intelligence and reporting which provides real time access to data and analytical reports, along with customization, for better and quick decisions. It provides options to create and manage workflows for day to day activities or for some tedious jobs with out any developer's assistance. It's enterprise portal give access to business from anywhere in real time and provides a platform for company, vendor and customers to interact and exchange information. It has powerful financial management module comprising of financial management role centre, general ledger, accounts receivables, bank management, fixed assets, and reporting, however advanced features like cost accounting is available in higher editions.

Microsoft Dynamics AX has powerful features in production and project management section which makes it an excellent product for any manufacturing company it provides insight into inventory, planning the production and handling multi-sites, it also provides facilities to manage projects on the basis of priority and material planning and availability. Supply chain management system is equipped with powerful features like role-centers, business intelligence tools such as KPI's and quick reporting along with details of client requirement forecast and material planning. Overall Microsoft Dynamics AX fulfills the requirements of manufacturing, wholesale distribution, process manufacturing midsize or large enterprises and is capable of working as a global product.

However no payroll option in Microsoft Dynamics AX and few features available with add on connections make it little less favorite when compared to other products. It has not been designed to suffice the needs of the businesses of all sizes like its pricing and cost of implementation may not fit in the budget of a small company. It is also criticized for not having enough support and options for lean manufacturing which shortens its reach to complete manufacturing industry. Although due to the use of MorphX as an integrating tool, which can reflect the effect of customization at all places by mere single click, is something which is not available in other products. This Microsoft Dynamics AX review has covered all the major features, advantages and disadvantages of using this software.
