ERP and Change Management

Enterprise Resource Planning is a system which integrates all the functional applications on one database. This system is a set of programs that provides support for the all area of the organization, and helps to develop the communication between the departments of the organization for better results.

Apart the benefits getting by the organizations from the ERP system, in most of the companies ERP system fails because of the system facing difficulties in implementation. For the effective implementation, use of change management strategy is necessary to promote the system in the work place. Most of the companies are producing large number of products and introducing many services. In spite of that, they are having high success rate because of their techniques and marketing strategies followed by the top marketing professionals of the organization.

Implementation Strategies

Studies of marketing professionals revealed that, different strategies are there for the successful ERP implementation. Those are classified as technical, organizational. Organizational strategies includes project management, organizational structure, change management strategy, resources, communication and development, staff management and training etc, Technical strategies include software installation, complexity, sufficient in house technical personal, time and cost of implementation.



Change Management Strategy

Enterprise Resource Planning is such wide used software across the companies, which needs development in the implementation strategy. Change management is a planned strategy to invite new changes in the organization, with an objective to maximize the benefits for the organization and reduce the risks with the ERP implementation process. These changes may be occur within the company or may be the change in globally. An effective change management affects all the areas of the organization. The key process of change management is communication between the all departments of the firm and coordination between the employees and sufficient training to the staff for software to get the results from the change management.

Change Management will bring major changes in the organization. It changes the people work in the organization and changes the process and there may be scope to reduce man power of the company, can manage with some of the efficient trained staff during and after the implementation of ERP in the company. This may cause some resistance from the staff, and the management has to manage it effectively during this type of tough situations.

The management has to train the staff and lead and educate them regarding the benefits by implementing the new ERP in the company, though the employees also have the knowledge about the purpose of implementation of the software and the ways to utilize the software for effective working process and for better results. Some fully trained persons to be appointed as a key users for the assisting the end users of the each and every department of the firm. The key user will bring the further developments or any queries from the end users of the software, to the top management to take necessary steps in the modifying the software in affective manner.

So, change management is very necessary for implementation and utilization or software like ERP.
